The pretty dresses.

The sweet little babies.

The excitement over the hunt.

The eggs!

And definitely seeing family.
How was your Easter?

Sometimes, an event happens that allows you to be inspired with your own children.
The weather has been beautiful here the last few days. Punxsutawney Phil is crazy, because it sure doesn’t seem like there will be six more weeks of winter!
We also got a package in the mail. My little princess turned three on the 19th of January and she got one last birthday present in the mail on Saturday.
What was in the box?
Only the cutest little fairy costume!

We spent the next hour playing magic. She tried her hardest turning everything PINK!

At one point, she even managed to get laser beams to shoot from her wand! (Okay, it was just a sun flare capture but still!)

It’s difficult taking photos of your own children. The way the don’t pay attention as much to you and usually decide to get done with the session far sooner than we are actually done. But today was just perfect. I’m so happy with what I came away with!

I hope your week is absolutely wonderful and you enjoy the weather that remains beautiful!
This month, I’m taking part in a photography project just for me. Every day I’m taking a different image that is related to a letter in the alphabet.
I’m hoping at the end of the month to be able to share the images with you!
Until then, here’s a sneak peek from my image from yesterday!
A beautiful senior, Nyki….she will be a fantastic actress!

Plus, anyone that makes a Crazy Chipmunk face for me is a winner!

When I first started blogging a couple years ago, I discovered a sweet lady named Beth.
She was smart and funny, took pictures and had lost twin boys in 2008. I had just given birth and found her right about the first anniversary of their deaths. Having this child snuggling on my chest and knowing that she wouldn’t have her twins other than in spirit was heart breaking for me.
Her growth as a photographer and a mother (I was with her pregnancy with Elijah and she is now pregnant again!) have been wonderful to view.
So when she shared that there is an etsy shop called June Afternoons that has some of my favorite photographers that donated work with all proceeds going to March of Dimes I just had to get involved.
I know so many loved ones that have lost and I constantly pray that all children are born healthy and can thrive. Because they deserve it.
So visit etsy and find a print you love and know you are getting a gift not only for yourself, but for babies everywhere.
I just booked an exciting project that I cannot wait to share with you!
I’ll be taking portraits of my hometown firefighters in their new uniforms. Spending the day taking pictures of men in uniform? Yes please!
I’ve also set up a partnership with the gorgeous and fabulously amazing Robin Davis to develop my personalized packaging. Seriously, I am so excited. Bouncing in my chair excited. Cannot WAIT to get the products in my hands and share them with you!
I was honored enough to visit my hometown and take shots of the new Fire & Life Safety Division Chief. He just also happened to be a friend from high school’s wife….and the son of a good friend of my mom’s.
A night full of Star Wars and Star Trek jokes – “These are not the droids you are looking for”
Before getting down to business.
Almost as proud as a papa.
Three of the four boys (yes, they have four beautiful boys!) helped pin his new bars on. They were SO proud.
After all that hard work, they definitely deserved some cake!
And one last big grin. The proud new Division Chief. Congratulations, Dave! It was so great to see you all!
This couple was so much fun to shoot. It helps that they are my cousin and her fiance, but that only contributed to my knowing them, not the joy from this day.

We had SO much fun! I wish I could shoot them every day!
Her dad is a retired firefighter, which means we had to play at the fire department! They were up for anything!
And one last one, my favorite from the whole day:

Thank you, Megan and Ethan for being such amazing models and being so much in love! I cannot wait to meet with you on Sunday to show you the rest!
Back in October, I reintroduced you to my niece, who along with her husband were pregnant!
Well, they had a beautiful baby girl, about 30 minutes after my husband had his stroke. So I didn’t get to go down that Saturday like I had planned. But I did get to visit her on Christmas Eve! The lights were bright, the presents were wrapped, it was a perfect day.
Saturday morning I woke up to snow and was worried that we would be snowed in for my first Masonic Lodge Installation where I was not a visitor. I would be working. I was excited. Even with everything that was going on with Ryan, I was looking forward to this. Especially since this would be the first shoot with my new camera where I was comfortable enough to shoot it on Manual Mode.
It helped that I knew most everyone at the event, the Masonic Family is tight. Most of these men have known me for years, if not decades. I felt right at home and was ready to do what I loved.
So thank you, Mr. Hinton, for trusting in me to capture your big day. It was a pleasure and an honor! I hope you are happy with what you see, and I cannot wait to show you the rest!
One of my first official “I’m taking my camera, grabbing some people with the sole purpose of taking pictures” moments was with my beautiful niece and her husband almost exactly 2 years ago. I was 7 months pregnant and instead of nesting, I had the strongest urge to make beautiful images.
So I did! They even traveled up from Salem (an hours drive) just to indulge me. They were so cute and fantastic and it was pretty much what started my belief in myself and got me doing a ton of research. My education rose in leaps and bounds from that day! Back then, I didn’t know anything about aperture or depth of field or anything. My camera was completely on auto.
Fast forward and now, she is the one that’s pregnant! And I did the traveling this time, to capture some beautiful shots of them.
I cannot wait to meet their little girl!
Aren’t they just adorable?
